About | Funeral services for Harriett Malissa Dulaney, 62, of Eastaboga, will be on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rev. Ernest Dover will be officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 till 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Miss Dulaney died on Thursday at Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her mother, Irene Dulaney; brother, Austin M Dulaney Jr; nieces, Pam Maxwell (Randy), Tammy Collins (Jeremy), Cathy Dulaney, Stephanie Dulaney (Stevie Bruce) and seven great-nieces and nephews. Miss Dulaney served as a Red Cross Volunteer with the Birmingham Area Chapter and the Alabama Division from 1970 to 1973, logging more then 2000 hours. She was a member of the Nursing Programs Committee from 1971 to 1973, then she became a Red Cross Drug Abuse Specialist, developing and presenting lecture series on Drugs and Abuse. Also she was a Disaster Specialist serving Alabama and Mississippi. She was a First Aid Instructor and was first runner up as Birmingham Business and Professional Women of the year in 1973, nomination submitted by the Red Cross. Later she received the Nursing Cap Award (reserved for out standing volunteer professional nurse in 1973.) Miss Dulaney received a Letter of Commendation in 1973 from then President Richard Nixon for outstanding voluntarism. She also received a Citation from the Alabama Division, American Red Cross, signed by then manager, Roscoe Whatley . She was a registered nurse at Regional Medical center for 14 years, and served as Secretary and Treasure of Eastaboga Volunteer Fire Department. She was a very hard working, caring person that always helped anyone she could. She will be greatly missed. Published in the Anniston Star June 12, 2010 |
