Graduation Year Class of 1972
Date of Birth Jun 25, 1954
Date of Passing Jan 31, 2021
About Richard Hickman Flournoy of Birmingham, AL went to his heavenly reward on January 31, 2021. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Frances Flournoy and Tillman Barnett (Dick) Flournoy, and his daughter, Stacey Lynne Flournoy. He is survived by his wife, Cristy Adams Flournoy and daughters Victoria "Tori" Flournoy and Amy Renee Flournoy Kemp; sisters Kathy Hamff (Bill) and Carol Shoulders (Bob); one grandchild; one niece; five nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
Richard was born on June 25, 1954 in Birmingham, AL. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Business Administration, but bled orange and blue. In his passion for helping others in the insurance and group benefits industry, Richard met his "Sunshine", Cristy and they were married for 17 years. Richard was everything to his family, chef, head bus driver, head joker, head cheerleader. Tori loves her daddy more than anything in this world and he was her world. Richard was a believer and loved his Lord and Savior. Richard had a passion for life and treasured his time with family and friends. He was a loyal friend to so many. He had a great time playing tennis and could fish all day. Most of all, he was the life of the party and he loved good music and performing karaoke. A party was not a party without Richard. Everyone knew it was just getting started when Richard channeled the one and only Elvis. Like the one and only, our Elvis has left the building; but not without leaving a lasting impression of big love, joy, song and laughter that none of us will ever forget.
Due to Covid, a private, graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 3 at 2:00 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Masks and social distancing required. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. www.stjude.org/donate/
