Robert Henry Blackshear, III of Birmingham, AL passed away Monday August 9, 2021. He was 67. Robert was born June 27, 1954 in Meridian, Mississippi to the late Robert H. Blackshear, II and Louise Fendley Blackshear. He grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Shades Valley High School. Robert went on to serve in the U. S. Air Force, based at Chicksands RAF, Bedfordshire, England. He returned to Birmingham in 2005 to help care for his ailing father while attending Jefferson State community college. He graduated with an associates degree in radiological technology. He earned membership to the Phi Theta Kappa Society and was awarded the Ann Watson Memorial scholarship by the Alabama Association of Radiologic Technologists. Robert began his 16 year career as a cardiovascular technician at Trinity Medical Center, moving to Grandview when the hospital relocated. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and aided several foreign mission trips. He is preceded in death by his father, and is survived by his mother, sisters Elizabeth L Eaton ( Donald ) of Hoover and Martha B. Welch (Michael) of Vestavia Hills; nieces Dr. Laura Williamson of Hoover and Lucy Lindley of Nashville, TN; nephew Edward H. Lindley III (Sarah) of Vestavia Hills. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Gastonburg, Wilcox County, Alabama, near the Fendley family homestead.
