About | PERRY, RUSSELL W., 57 of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011 at his home. Russell was a graduate of Shades Valley High School class of 1972. He attended the University of Alabama where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Russell was a member of Alabama Wedding & Event Professionals, BNI UAB Chapter, and Brookwood Baptist Church. Russell worked in the poultry industry with his family's business for more than 40 years. Recently, Russell joined his wife Marsha in her photography business, Marsha Perry Photography. They specialize in portraits, weddings and commercial projects. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Russell Perry and his father, Morton Hodson Perry. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Marsha Newell Perry of Birmingham; daughter Natalie Perry Wright (Josh); daughter Rebekah Millar Perry Rudder (Josh); grandchildren, Christopher Paulson Wright, Lillian Grace Wright, William Parker Wright, Jack Millar Rudder, and Mary Chase Rudder all of Birmingham. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Alfred Turenne Newell, III, and his brothers, Morton Hodson Perry, Jr. (Mary Ann) and Robert Dow Perry (Sherel). He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews. Russell was a loving husband, adoring father and amazing grandfather. More than anything, he enjoyed having friends and family to his home and creating magnificent dinners for everyone. Other than cooking, "Pop" as he is known by his grandchildren, loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events, recitals and school events. Services will be held Thursday May 26, 2011 at Brookwood Baptist Church. The family will receive friends and family at the church at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm in the church chapel. Graveside will be held at Elmwood Cemetery immediately following the church service.
