| About | Teresa Lynn Staggs Harris was born on December 14, 1953 and passed away February 7, 2026 after an illness. Teresa was a life long resident of Homewood, Alabama where she attended Hall-Kent Elementary, Homewood Junior High and was a member of the Shades Valley graduating class of 1972. Teresa and Gary, her husband of 49 years, built a life together in Homewood where they raised their family. Teresa devoted her life to caring for children. She directed the Hall-Kent Extended Day Program for over thirty years. At Hall-Kent she made life long friends and enriched the lives of children, families, staff and her community. Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Lee Staggs and her mother in law, Bessie Lee Stevens. She is survived by her husband, Gary Lynn Harris; daughter, Leslee Veda Harris Bridgmon (Brandon); and son, Phillip Martin Harris(Alisha). She is also survived by her mother, Veda Hamm Staggs; brothers Steve Staggs(Cathy) and Mike Staggs(Mary); a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and her best friend, Peggy Gunnels and her sons, Matt and Taylor(Haley) Gunnels. Teresa’s proudest accomplishments were her four grandchildren: Parker Martin Harris(22), Barrett Michael Bridgmon(19), Piper Louise Harris(19) and Brody Lee Bridgmon(16). She loved her grandchildren “to the moon and back”! The family will receive friends at 10:00am followed by a celebration of life in Teresa’s honor on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 11:00am at the Trinity West Homewood Campus(Oakmont) located at 914 Oak Grove Road Homewood, AL 35209. |
