Theo Patricia Thomas, nee Collier was born on November 8th, 1954 to Jerry Lee Culver and A.C. Collier in Birmingham, Al. Theo received her B.S. in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1976. In '82 she traveled to Saudi Arabia to work at King Abdul Aziz Military Hospital where she met a brilliant Welsh geneticist named Tal. They were engaged within a week and were married in Nashville, TN in '83. Theo brought Tal to America and together they raised a family as Tal built his career in American Pediatrics and Genetics first at the University of Florida, the University of Omaha, Wake Forest University, and finally, the Children's Hospital of New Orleans. Theo was a devoted mother and was always an active supporter of her children from her time in the Jr. League to the PTA and was ever present at every game, concert, and play. Theo died on Christmas Eve, 2022 in Baton Rouge, LA where she was receiving cancer treatment. She is survived by her children including Anwen (Rodney) Eslinger of Mound, MN; Cadi (Jeffrey) Withers of Merrick, NY; Siani Thomas of Merrick NY; Wil (Elizabeth) Thomas of Baton Rouge, LA; and her sister Carolyn Collier of Birmingham, Al. Theo was the doting "Minnie" to her six grandchildren: Bethan, Teddy, Hazel, Louise, Andi, and Margot. A memorial service for Theo will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, February 11th, 2023 in the chapel at Christ Episcopal Church located on 129 N New Hampshire St, Covington, LA 70433. |
