About CHAPLIN, VANDALYN, 87, died October 12. Born in Forest Home, Alabama, to Sallie and Vandiver Lazenby, Vandalyn lived most of her adult life in Birmingham where she was a longtime member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. After retiring from teaching biology at Shades Valley High School, Vandalyn devoted her newfound time to her family, community, and church. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold Crowell Chaplin, Sr. She is survived by her sons: Ramsey (Phyllis), Harold (Elizabeth), Vandiver (Lois); and three sisters: Sara Richardson of Marion, Edna Harris (John) of Decatur, and Nell Lazenby of Forest Home. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Christopher Chaplin (Mary); Heather and Emily Chaplin; Henry, Vandiver, and Sarah Chaplin; and one great-grandchild, Alexander Chaplin. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Birmingham on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church at 2:00 p.m. Church address: 3736 Montrose Rd., Birmingham, AL 35213. Telephone: 205-871-3583. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21 at Forest Home Methodist Church in Forest Home, Alabama, with burial in Forest Home Cemetery.
