Carla Jung (laakso) Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1972
Date of Passing May 18, 2021
About Carla Sue Laakso, 67, born Nov. 18, 1953, in Hot Springs, South Dakota, passed away Nov. 10, 2021, in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Carla moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, at age 6, and it became home. She married the love of her life in 1977 and raised a family of four children.
Carla's laughter was infectious, and her sense of humor will never be forgotten. She shared so many wonderful attributes with her loved ones, like her green thumb and knack for gardening. Simple things brought endless joy to her life, like her love for cooking, embroidering with her grandkids, nestling around a campfire and keeping control of a crazy, close-knit loving family. She was always the first to call and celebrate her loved ones birthdays with excitement.
She loved celebrating all the holidays but especially Christmas and she loved Halloween. Weeks before, you could find her stringing up her hundreds of Santa Claus ornaments.
Carla will be sorely missed by family and friends. She has passed on so many wonderful qualities to her children and grandchildren that their lives have been blessed.
Carla is preceded in death by her parents, Ervin Jung and Bernice Mettler Jung.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Robert Laakso; her children, daughter Monica Kissinger and husband Ree Kissinger, daughter Heather Laakso, daughter Robyn Dick and husband Ryan Dick, and son Rogan Laakso; her grandchildren, Mariah Rubke, Jasmine Meadows, Hailey Kissinger, Cashis Meadows, Jack Kissinger, Aiden Rector, Owen Rector, Tayla Dick and Ryan Dick; and her sister, Kathy Jung Hawkins and husband Brian Hawkins.
A celebration of life will take place Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, from 2-5?p.m. at Salty's on Second, 706 Second Ave., Fairbanks, AK.
