About | David N. Kennedy Jr., 31, died unexpectedly in his sleep on March 27, 2009. A celebration of his life will be hosted at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 25, in the Antler Banquet Hall at the Elks Lodge in Fairbanks. Dave was born June 1, 1977, to Valerie and David Kennedy in Fairbanks. He graduated from North Pole High School in 1995 and attended the University of Alaska. At the time of his death, Dave worked at Seekins Ford Lincoln Mercury as a technician and sales associate. He was recognized and respected by many for his knowledge in the field. Previously, he was a technician at Auto Trim Design. Dave was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, spending time with his bulldog, Winston, and was looking forward to riding his motorcycle this summer. He also loved his pickup and always was looking for the latest gadgets to upgrade its performance. His family recalls, "Dave was an amazing guy who naturally drew people to him. He had a quick wit, a generous heart, and a strong will. He had a great sense of humor and a gift for finding the good, even in bad situations. Dave rarely met a person he couldn't call a friend. Although we are deeply saddened by his sudden and unexpected passing, we are comforted to know that he is in heaven with his mother, whom he missed terribly. He will live in our hearts forever." Dave is survived by his father, David Sr., of North Pole; sisters and brothers-in-law, Christel and Justin Burgess of North Pole and Kimberly and Tyler Stryker, of Eagle River; niece, Erica Stryker; girlfriend, Aleena Peterson; grandmother and step-grandfather, Emogene and Alvie Harrison of North Pole; grandfathers, Emory Burgess Jr., of West Virginia and Daniel Kennedy of Utah; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved Dave very much. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Valerie J. Kennedy; and grandmother, Margaret (Fisher) Kennedy. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Dave's memory to: American Cancer Society Alaska Division, 1057 W. Fireweed Lane, Suite 209, Anchorage, AK 99503. Arrangements were by Fairbanks Funeral Home. |
