Lonnie Henning Obituary (1951 - 2013)

Graduation Year Class of 1969
Date of Birth Aug 09, 1951
Date of Passing Nov 27, 2013
About Lonnie was Linda Henning's twin brother. He was a notable person in Tucson who you could consider to be a mover and a shaker. He started the Tucson Auto Mall for instance. He got the corner house on Oracle and Wetmore to sell their house to him. Guess why they sold it. This was David Radamacher's home and Lonnie told them he knew him. Tis true! Then he had Watson Chevrolet as the buyer. Smart. He was both the buyer and the seller. Watson gave him a corvette as part only part of his commission. Both Lonnie had to sell it because with his 6'2" inch frame he hit its inside roof(lol). Then he founded ARTS EXPRESS the company who had free concerts in the Tucson music hall on July 4 every year, where Lonnie as the prominent base singer would sing in his wonderful base voice solos. Yes solos and believe me he brought down the house. He got that beautiful base voice from his dad. And both of them had speaking voices that reminded me of Darth Vadar. And that was Lonnie's nickname when he worked at Coldwell Bankler. They called him Darth behind his back. He also started the Christmas play Follow that Star. His church choir he parlayed into this non profit charity along with Arts Express. Then in what was left of his spare time he was in 4 barbershop choirs. A very talented, injtelligent creative man. Hennings are smart!
Events Being a singer Lonnie choreographed and had all the finest singers in Tucson to sing songs he sang himself his favorite being Old Man River. These siners from his church were the ones who were singers in his Arts Express and Follow that Star presentations. So although very unusual Lonnie designed his own funeral. And Lonnie made an appearance at his funeral. Over the loud speaker in the church his voice rang out singing '"I'm the Lucky Guy". It was a Tucson star studded event. Lonnie did everything in largesse!!!!!!!!
