About | It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christy Kay Fuller on Nov. 11, 2024 at the age of 63 from cardiac arrest. Chris was a spitfire and a jokester with a heart of gold, and the Verde Valley will surely miss her and her contributions to our community. Chris was born on Feb. 25, 1963, in Cottonwood, Arizona to Willie and K Fuller. She grew up in Cornville, attended school in the Verde Valley and graduated from Mingus Union HS in 1980. She held many jobs during her years, but most important to her were as a school bus driver for COCSD and as a cook at the Yavapai County Jail. Chris opened her taxi & livery service in late 2005, CJ’s Need a Lift, which later became CK’s Need A Lift. She started the business as a solo driver, sleeping with the phone on her chest making sure not to miss one call. Chris spent most of her time on the roads helping people get to and from their destinations. She was a lifeline for some customers as she picked up and delivered their meds and groceries. She knew the residents and the roads like no one else in the Verde Valley. CK’s Need A Lift has and will remain open under new ownership, but with the same name in honor of her legacy. Chris was such a good friend to many. She knew everyone and everyone knew her. With her quick wit and sharp tongue, if you didn’t know her, you soon would if you were in the same room. She always had a story to tell. She was boisterous, opinionated and could be cantankerous if you upset her. But she was also a sweet, kind and extremely generous person. |
