| About | Clay was a big brother to David, Robin Vernon Leon,Joseph George, Nephi Regan, Melanie Pearl, James E, and Eldon Lot Smith II. David,James, and Eldon are 3 mighty Eagles that graduated from Thatcher High. Nephi and Melanie graduated as Safford Bulldogs. Clay's older brother Harvey Eldon pre deceased him on May 10, 1980. His only sister,Melanie and two younger brothers (Joseph George, and Vernon Leon) died young. Clay played fullback his Jr. and Sr. years and proudly wore number 75. Coach Cecil Nelson loved his fullback! Clay was found lying in the seat of his pick-up in a gas station in Freedonia, Arizona after leaving his 18 wheeler at work one fall evening. The paramedic's revived him on the way to the Kanab, Utah Hospital. He died while in the hospital of a massive heart attack. He left 10 children from three different wives.(Betty Angle,deceased,Candaleria, & Toni Bates). |
