Jared Allen Counts Obituary

About Jared Counts was killed when his motorcycle hit a van on Arkansas Highway 340. Jared joined the Arkansas National Guard, became a volunteer firefighter, and work for law enforcement. Spc. E-4 Jared Counts was a member of Battery C, 1st Battalion of the 142nd Field Artillery of the Arkansas Army National Guard in Rogers and was deployed to Iraq for 16 months with the Battery B, 1st Battalion of the 142nd Field Artillery Unit in Springdale. While in Iraq, he served with the military police at Ashraf, Abu Ghraib, and Camp Cropper. Counts’ unit was the last unit at Abu Ghraib and helped to close it. After getting back from Iraq in November 2006, Jared served in the Rogers National Guard unit in the artillery and was assigned to the multilaunch rocket system.

Counts also volunteered with the Little Flock Fire Department, worked at the Sugar Creek Center Golf Course, and as a jail detention officer for the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
