About | Susan [Leydig] (Gazulis) Chastain, 55, passed away on January 1, 2009. She was a loving and devoted wife. She was born in Dos Palos, CA and was a graduate of Aptos High School. She came to the Daytona Beach area from the San Francisco Bay area and started her business, Art-In-Bloom, located on Beville Rd. She loved working with flowers and continued to do so until her health forced her to close her shop. She was a member of several organizations, including the Symphony Guild of Daytona Beach, the Spruce Creek Country Club, and still belonged to the San Francisco Yacht Club, where she was past president of the club's women's auxiliary. Susan donated her time, energy and money to these and other organizations. She was eager to help others above and beyond what was needed. A lover of animals, she adopted shelter dogs and volunteered at animal shelters while in California. Susan is survived by her husband, Kent; parents, Patricia and Edwin Driscoll, of Corralitos, CA; her sisters, Kathy [McGill] Mathew and Chris [McGill] Taylor; her brothers, Paul McGill, Rodney Leydig, and Mike Leydig; cousin, Leonard Leydig; niece, Katie Mathew; and nephew, Kasey Mathew, all of California. The family requests that any memorials be made in her name to the Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL, 32129. At Susan's desire, memorial services will be private family affairs. Published by Daytona Beach News-Journal on Jan. 6, 2009. |
