About | I was truly saddened to learn, yesterday, from Tom Hammit —and very sorry to have to spread the bad news— that Brad Sundeen has passed away. According to Tom, Brad was found unconscious in his mobile home and died later in the hospital*. Brad, as you'll probably remember, was a very special human. A true romantic, even choosing Verona as a place to marry. I'm not well read, but it was Brad who inspired me to read such authors as Hermann Hess. I thank him for this. I hadn't seen Brad in many years, but what I remember is that he was a comic talent —a comic genius, really. I really mean this and, having over 11 years of stand-up comedy experience on the open-mic scene, including opening a couple times for Robin Williams, I can assure you that the Brad I remember could certainly have rivaled some of the best comics on this planet, if he'd chosen to. I regret that he never fully developed this talent and used it. He and I were roommates at one point, and believe me, if webcams had existed at the time and been implanted in our small apartment in San Leandro, the films of some of the things which went on there would get rave reviews today. Those —and that of our high school shennanigans— are the types of moments I prefer to remember about Brad. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/insidebayarea/obituary.aspx?pid=165122604 |
