| About | Cherriee Elvine Carsen lost her battle with cervical cancer on July 10th, 2022. Passing away in Sun Valley, Nevada lovingly surrounded by her partner of 25 years and her devoted family. Cherriee was born on November 28, 1971, to her parents Jaysen and Esther Carsen in Seattle, Washington. After her father died in 1972 in a car accident the family moved to Los Angeles, California. In 1976, her mother married an amazing man, Bennie Medina, who stepped in the role and became "dad". Cherriee was the middle child of her two living siblings. Her childhood was filled with shenanigans and adventures in Redding California. At a young age Cherriee began her working career first as a babysitter then as a busgirl at DJ's Barbeque pit. After graduating from Central Valley High School, class of 1990, the family moved to Reno, Nevada. In 1992 Cherriee continued her career path as a security guard for the Eldorado Casino. In her 10 years of service, she worked hard, made lifelong friends and met her husband, Troy Burge. She went on to have 4 children, who were her whole world, Rick Anthony, Samantha, Kyle and Curtis. Rick Anthony is currently serving in the US Army as a Specialist stationed in South Korea, Samantha served 4 1/2 years in the US Army as a CBRN Specialist and is currently enrolled to attend UNR, Kyle graduated from UNR this year with a bachelor’s degree in Teaching and Biology and will begin his teaching career at Reno High School and Curtis is currently serving in the US Army as a Specialist stationed in El Paso, Texas. In 2002 Cherriee found her career passion as a TSA Agent. In the 20 years of dedicated service, she was recognized as a lead agent, received numerous awards and was highly respected amongst her peers for her knowledge and work ethic. Cherriee loved unconditionally, her smile would light up a room and she had a commanding presence. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family and especially quality time with her Grandchild Oliver who she proudly doted over and spoiled every chance she got. To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement. She is survived by her Husband Troy Burge, Sons Rick Anthony Carsen, Kyle Carsen-Burge and Curtis Carsen-Burge, Daughter Samantha Nelson, Brother Jack Carsen, Sister Jaysee Carsen, Nephew Jaysen Vokes and Grandson Oliver Nelson. As well as many extended family members including Aunt Marge Forbes, Uncles John Orr, Jim Orr, and Bob Orr, brother-in-law Kevin Vokes and many more. She is preceded in death by her Mother Esther Carsen, Father Jaysen Carsen, Dad Bennie Medina, Brother Ricky Carsen, Brother-in-law Leroy Burge and Cousin George Orr. |
