About | Feb. 22, 1950 < Nov. 24, 2008 Daniel George Silvia died suddenly on Nov. 24, 2008, at his home in Suisun City. He was born Feb. 22, 1950, in Taunton, Mass., the son of Francis Paul and Jeanette Lavina Silvia. Dan lived the first 10 years of his life in Massachusetts and moved with his family to Concord in 1960. Dan lived most of his life in the Bay Area. He graduated with a degree in history from the University of Washington in Seattle. Dan worked as the Community Education Coordinator for Contra Costa Community Colleges until his retirement in 2002. Among Dan's many loved were backpacking, fishing, camping, dancing, old movies, painting miniature soldiers, model ships, knapping arrowheads and first and foremost spending time with family and friends. Dan is survived by his wife of 17 years, Sally Silvia; his stepdaughter, Jenny Connors; his sister, Maureen Rose of McKinleyville; his nephews, Victor Cross (Angela), Justin Wirthman, Eric Benevent (Cynthia), Aaron Silvia and Orran Silvia; and his nieces, Truth Wirthman Monatlik and Melody Silvia. He also leaves his great-nephews, Jackson and Charlie Cross, and Julian Monatlik. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Diane; and brothers, Ronnie and Gary. |
