About MAX BISHOP PASSED ON 9/19/2003. MAX FLOYD BISHOP Max was born on August 8, 1936, in Okemah, OK. to Floyd Bishop and Jesse Bishop. Max passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 19, 2003, at the age of 67. Max attended Clovis Elementary School, Clovis High School, Fresno City College, and Fresno State University. He graduated with a degree in speech therapy and later served in the U.S. Army. While attending Fresno State University he met and later married his wife, Jessica Jones, on August 20, 1960. Max and Jessica had three sons, Thad Bishop, Jode Bishop, and Clay Bishop; one daughter, Amanda Bishop Casaburri; and one grandson, Anthony Bishop Casaburri. He was also survived by his sister, Delores Pickering; and brother, Dr. Kent Bishop. Max was preceded in death by his parents. He is also survived by many relatives and friends. Max was a teacher for Sierra Unified School District for 32 years, and one year at Tranquility. He taught at Clovis High School and at a one room school at Balch Camp. He taught for 38 years. Max loved coaching sports and playing sports himself. He was a quiet champion for young people in need, a poetic writer, and an avid reader. A San Francisco 49er and Giants fan. He enjoyed his apple orchard, the high country, and his many dogs. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A Memorial Service will be held at Sierra Elementary School on Saturday, September 27, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life to celebrate with family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests that "acts of kindness be performed in Max's memory".
