About | Digby passed away in Pasadena at the Huntington Memorial Hospital. He had been ill for five years with complications from pancreatitis. He was an Eagle Scout, loved scouting, and spoke at many Court of Honors. He was a Ventura County Sheriff for a while before he became a Los Angeles County Sheriff. He was a bailiff in the courtroom during the Manson trial. Digby saved the judge from being killed by Manson when Digby tackled Manson, as Manson jumped up to stab the judge in the neck with a sharp pen! Manson threw Digby down with such force that Digby crushed his kneecap! It took five other deputies to subdue Manson! The accident ended Digby's Los Angeles County Sheriff career. Later, Digby became a professor at the University of California at Los Angeles. Digby was a kind and gentle person who was admired by everyone. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Joyce.He will be greatly missed by his entire family, and all who knew him.. |
