About | EDITH LEE (ORTEGA) PEREZ Edith Lee (Ortega) Perez was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Ozark County, Mo., on a farm to Carl and Thelma Stevens. She was lifted up on angel’s wings into heaven on March 15, 2008, with family by her side. After graduating, from Lassen High School in Susanville, Calif., she began her career at the Sierra Army Depot where she worked for more than 40 years. It was there she met and then married Max Ortega and had two children, Kathy Bristow (Bob Coutnier), of Elk Grove, and Jon Ortega (Lori), of Herlong. She enjoyed being grandma to Amy Williams (Ken), Lee Anne Ortega (Billy Olivas), Rachele Bristow, Matt Ortega, and Erin Bristow. She cherished the time spent in Elk Grove, Calif., visiting with her great-grandsons Kenny Jr. and Korey Williams. She is also survived by her brother Lyle Stevens, of Redwater, Tex., his children Mark and Linda as well as many cousins. Edith shared her fabulous cooking, crocheted blankets and knitted slippers unselfishly with her family and friends. She was always there to mend her grandchildren’s broken hearts and torn clothes or help with a new recipe or cooking disaster. Her family will miss her unconditional love for them. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life to be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 29, 2008., in the Family Resource Center (The Post Chapel), 170 D.S. Hall, Herlong, Calif. |
