About IRENE ZADA RIPLEY WEST MARSTERS
Irene Zada Ripley West Marsters was born at the Dalles, Ore., to Clarence Edward Ripley and Laura Spence Ripley. She was the second daughter, the first being Bertha Ripley born in 1926. They lived out of Missoula, Mont. where their parents ran a fish hatchery for the government during World War 1 and II, providing fish for the troops.

She married Billy M. West on March 11, 1944, when she was 15 1/2 years old. She and Billy West had four children: Billy M. West born in Herlong, Calif., on March 28, 1946 and died in Jan. 1971; Dixie May West, born in 1947, prematurely; and Malinda West, born in Herlong, Calif., on Nov. 16, 1948 and only living daughter; Jon E West, born in Herlong, Calif., on Sept. 16, 1952, who lives in Queens Creek, Ariz., with his wife Roberta West (Bobbie).

Irene first went to work for Sierra Army Depot in 1945. Then Billy West who was a Fish and Game Warden for Lassen County moved to Manhattan, Nev., for about six months before moving back to Herlong where his mother Florence West taught atthe Teen Center at Sierra Army Depot from 1944 to 1954. Billy West died in March 1964 and Irene married Hugh Marsters for two years then split on friendly terms.

She started out as a dental assistant at Sierra Army Hospital Herlong and worked her way up the ladder 40 years later to retire in 1989 as a freight classification specialist supervisor.

She loved life, her family and friends.

We always had horses, cats, dogs, etc. and she went to many horse shows, parades, belonging to the Honey Lake Valley Riders for many years as did the rest of the family.

She always had a kind word and big hug for everyone and will be greatly missed by all. Any donations may go to the Cancer Society Senior Service or donation of your choice.

She was 79 and lived a full life and will be missed by all who knew her.
