She grew up in the Elko area and lived most of her life in Herlong, CA. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 4, 2009. Mary loved everyone, but especially had a fondness for children. She not only raised the children of her own family, but influenced the lives of so many others in the community. She is known to those she helped raise as Mama Mary, and as Mother Advisor to many others. Mary was always involved in community organizations, but had a special love for Eastern Star. In 1961, she served as Worthy Matron and as Worthy Grand Matron (District #3) in 1995. She was Mother Advisor to Rainbow Girls for several years and Secretary to local chapters for over 39 years. Mary has impacted so many lives with her loving kindness, creativity, sense of humor and ability to see good in everyone. She will be sorely missed.
