About | TAMMIE ELIZABETH (ADAMS) DUNN Awaiting angels have received a remarkable and loving woman. Tammie Elizabeth (Adams) Dunn was born on a cold wintery Friday, Jan. 31, 1958, in Longmont, Colo., to Max and Teresa Adams. When Tammie was a small child her family moved to Herlong, Calif. Later in life she met her future husband, Steven Dunn. They were married in Reno, Nev., on Sept. 19, 1981, and were together until her death, June 10, 2008. Tammie and Steven moved from Herlong once but returned because of its peaceful atmosphere to raise the four daughters that they shared. Helping those in true need, listening to those that had nowhere else to turn Tammie was an incredible wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all. The family home was constantly filled with love and laughter with four daughters and their friends. Tammie was employed by the Department of Defense, Sierra Army Depot most of her adult life, starting as a summer hire mowing and weed cutting, advancing through hard work and determination to the position of division chief of installation supply retail level. Tammie has over 25 years of dedicated federal service where her top priority was always the soldier in the field. She was also a member of local AFGE Local #1808. Tammie is predeceased by her father Max Adams, stepmother Ann Adams, brother Timothy Adams and stepbrother Daniel Somonski. She is survived by the loves of her life, husband Steven Dunn, daughters Samantha Dunn, Shannan Taylor (Christopher, whom she always thought of as her son) and Priscilla Walls, all of Herlong; daughter Stephanie Dunn, of Baton Rogue, sister Jayne Lawrence (Mike), of Doyle; stepsister Missy Hernandez, of Colorado; and step-brother Alex Mahikoa (Jasmine), of Washington; mother Teresa Rodriquez (Rod), of Reno; and nieces. She is survived by three grandchildren who were her true joy and inspiration, Jordyn Petty, Asa Abaca and Gavin Taylor, all of Herlong. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to Doyle Family Health Center staff for their benevolent in-home nurturing during the concluding weeks, Renown Medical Center, Renown Radiation Center, Renown Infusion Center, Dr. Singh, Dr. Darrick, Dr. Ganser, Dr. Bain and staff for their personal loving care. Their skills extended Tammie’s life a few more months in which she was able to spend with her family and friends. To our extended family, the employees and management of Sierra Army Depot, thank you. Your generous leave donations, compassion and emotional support permitted the family precious time with our loved one. Services will be held at the Herlong Chapel at Sierra Army Depot at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2008. Reception is to immediately follow. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to be made in the name of Tammie Dunn to the Renown Cancer Research Center, Reno, Nev. |
