About | Ann passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at the age of 57. She will be missed by her family and many friends who remember Ann as having a quick wit and always finding something humorous in life's twists and turns. Ann, born in the Philippines in 1947, was the only daughter of Philip and Nina Hamm. After moving to Fresno in 1953, Ann attended local schools, graduating from McLane High School where she played basketball and softball. She spent her early years working for the family business, Hamm Schools, providing private day care and private education for students with special needs. Her two youngest brothers remember Ann as being their primary parent figure during those years. After receiving her BA and MA degrees from California State University, Fresno, she went to work for Madera Unified School District where she taught until her retirement in 2003. Ann loved traveling, dancing, sports, entertaining her friends and shopping. She was extremely generous and enjoyed surprising those she cared about with special, thoughtful gifts. Ann was so bright that she became bored easily. Her antidote for this was to become physically active in a variety of sports, especially cycling, and to challenge people intellectually. Whatever she became involved in she gave 100%, not believing in doing things halfway. Ann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her four brothers and their spouses, Philip Hamm, Jr. and Carol of Modesto, Charles and Laura Hamm of Fresno, Ken Hamm and life partner, Stacy Anderson of San Francisco, and Gary Hamm of Chico; nine nieces, nephews and their spouses, Jason and Karen Hamm of Fresno, Eric and Erin Hamm, Alison Hamm, Nina Hamm, Addison Hamm, Alex Hamm, Kolbe Brennan, Alexandra Hamm and Caden Hamm; three great-nieces and nephews, Matthew, Ellie and Easton. Ann is also survived by her beloved teacup poodle, Tinker. |
