About | Letter to Alumni-Mountain Empire High School, Someone Help Me Please! I have found the high school senior photo of my long lost sweetheart, Daniel D. Elliott, October 12, 1957-May 19, 1977. Prior to his untimely demise, we were engaged to be married, and married according to “Indian Law,” with vows of till death do us part with his father as a witness, and to meet again in heaven—as he had had a dream that he would be killed...I found this video of the 1975 Echo Yearbook, from Mountain Empire High School where he attended and played football. His photo is on the 2nd page of Seniors, top left—I cannot get the image clear nor to read. I lived in Dan’s sister Rowena’s house and then at his father, the tribal chairman then, David Zene Elliott’s home in 1976, then I trained horses for John Finn ranch and lived in their bunkhouse, afterward, I was a live in assistant and cowgirl for the elder Rebecca Miller at Miller Valley ranch, just west of Live Oak Springs.(Mrs. Rebecca Miller helped get the Kumeyaay into the public school system and Manzanita tribal elder, who I spent much time with, Grandmother, Adeline Elliot, helped with driving them to school.)I have loved them all dearly. Dan loved to help his Kumeyaay people and used to help construct homes for the tribe with his father. Boone, as he was affectionately called, nicknamed me Jamie. I also like to help people and God has blessed me with a life of being a Registered Nurse for almost 40 years-If whoever has the 1975 Echo Yearbook, would be so kind as to send me a clear image of Daniel, and the writing above his photo; who went to heaven far too young. Before he was killed, he asked me repeatedly to “Tell the Story...” which I am working on with God’s help to give honor where honor is due.
