Jim Soden and that red jeep. Always saw the light side. Kept us all laughing. Rarely got lost, totally enthusiastic, never saw him really down. Kept “the group” together...at the heart of it. Good athlete, smart, capable, he & brother Larry were quite the pair. Great family & everyone loved to gather there and sing to their player piano. “Me & my shadow” personal favorite. He passed of leukemia through years working at PG&E. Exposure of Chromium 6 used to keep turbines clear probably led to his leukemia. Died to young, but loved every day by his friends and never forgotten for the path he trod in life both with and without us. Actual quote from Coach Jim Aitken after 58 football season. “I wish I could have had you in football 4 yeas”. He did well academically at SBVC, but left to get married and start career with PG&E, where he rose to plant manager at Hinkley (Barstow) until he got sick. An all around friendly guy who was popular with all who were lucky enough to get to know him. A friend forever—never to be forgotten. |
