It is with great sadness that Sue Pohley Bear (sister - Class of 1963) of David (Dave) Pohley shares this news. David passed away at the age of 77 on October 6, 2025 at his home in Nevada City. David Wayne Pohley was born in the old Miner's Hospital in Nevada City on Dec. 27, 1947, to William F. and Clara Belle Pohley. David's first home was 312 Park Avenue in Nevada City and he and his neighborhood friends would walk down the hill and play baseball at Pioneer Park. He graduated from Nevada Union High School on June 10, 1966. Dave was very good at sports in school. He was in Little League, Minor League, Flag Football, and Babe Ruth League. In High School he was on the baseball and football teams. He broke his nose playing in one of the football games. David was married to Jolene Beardshear (also from NUHS/Grass Valley) for a while. He was a Sergeant in the Army stationed in Viet Nam and was badly wounded there. He lost many friends and classmates in that war. After the Army he became a postman, first in Grass Valley, and then in Nevada City, where he retired from. He never remarried and had no children. He enjoyed playing Frisbee Golf and Poker with his friends and also collecting memorabilia. There was no service. |
