About |
one of the first original students @ Peninsula High who started in 1967Hey sad news today, lost a dear friend who I would say was the youngest hipster of them all, my high school friend Don Nolan, Younger brother of two prestigious poster artist, Gary & Dennis, the latter brother who did artwork on Big Brother's first debut album as well as Avalon ballroom posters, Don always kept my half full memory a little more than half with his photographic memory and multi fascinated experiences from 1967 and beyond, if any of you ever went to 1090 Page he was the youngest one there with his older brother, flying with the rising stars, Janis, Peter, & Sam of Big Brother & Chet Helms and the basement parties to raise rent at 1090, he practically had a carte-blanche pass to the Avalon ballroom, being the younger brother of a known artist, @ his family home in Burlingame on Drake Avenue, where his older brother Dennis got married, Jerry Garcia and Janice Joplin were there in attendance circa 1966 all of which were a bohemian creative family, Don was a very knowledgeable intellect, generous person, our personalities clicked discussing our favorite concerts, we were huge Stones fans, so I guess I owe him a song on the way out, we sang this one together on the phone while he was in the hospital in St. Helena two days ago, I salute you Mr D. rest in peace bro, you pal Tommy Cullinen |
