Harmon, Michael Roy Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1986
Date of Passing Jun 11, 2017
About HARMON, Michael Roy March 16, 1968 - June 17, 2017 Mike passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side, after a courageous five year battle of stage IV colon cancer. Mike taught us all that "courage is grace under pressure" no matter how he felt. Survived by his loving wife of 22 years Kathryn and daughters Kaylee, Piper, and his son Tyler Bowman. Mike, being the youngest of six leaves behind brothers and sisters Rod, Norman, Debbie (Behrends), Karen (Cresta) and Kim (Smith). Mike was born and raised in Santa Rosa, CA and the son of Otis and Edith Harmon. Mike attended Piner High School and grew up swimming for the Neptunes. He enjoyed high school rodeo, wrestling, hunting, archery and fishing. Mike worked in the construction industry for most of his younger life and then as the Installation manager for Castino Restaurant Equipment and Supply for the past 23 years. Mike was a volunteer Firefighter for the Rincon Valley Fire Dept. for six years. Mike was always there for his kids, cheering them on in soccer, basketball, Taekwondo and enjoyed riding dirt bikes and trap-shooting along with his daughters, family, and friends. After meeting his wife Kathryn and experiencing Lake Tahoe in the summer of 1993, Mike fell in love, he enjoyed spending time out on the lakes on his boat with family and friends, "nothing could be more relaxing" he always said. Mike had always dreamed of building a Jeep and taking his family on the Rubicon, after buying a jeep last October he built it along with nephew Jesse Ochoa and daughter Kaylee but he fell short of being able to take it out on the trails. As he picked up his custom plates Mike told the lady at the DMV "I built this Jeep for my girls" and his girls will fulfill his dream! Mike was always there for anyone and everyone, always willing to help no matter what the task was.
