About | Obituary of John Willey John Neal Willey, age 61 of Las Vegas, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016. He was born August 17, 1955 in Langdon, North Dakota to the late George Leroy Willey and the late Betty Jo Henry. John graduated from Quartz Hill High School in 1973 and went on to attend the University of Southern California, where he graduated in 1981 with degrees in Internal Relations and Affairs and in German Language. He went on to earn his Doctor of Law, Entertainment from USC. While at USC, he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, the Trojan Marching Band, the Collegiate UN Team and the Debate Team. He was an NBC Universal Corporate attorney from 1991 to 2009. He then represented celebrity clients for personal appearances in the Las Vegas area from 2009 to 20013 then in 2014 went on to be president of American Capital Funding, LLC in Beverly Hills. In 2015, he became CFO for independent film and production company Greenstem Enterprises. John met the love of his life in Michael Lane and the two relocated to Las Vegas and purchased their new home together. Sadly, Michael suffered a massive heart attack and passed away at an early age. John was heavily involved in a volunteer capacity with the Human Rights Campaign/ Las Vegas Chapter doing his part to help advance the cause of equal rights and protections for LGBTQ people. He was also very active in politics and realized the importance of not sitting on the sidelines. John is survived by his sister Laura Olivas of Sacramento, CA, brother Jim Willey of Las Vegas, NV, and best friend Aaron Bolen of Las Vegas, NV. A celebration of life event twas held in his honor at the Gay and Lesbian Center of Las Vegas. Donations may be made in John's honor to either St. Jude’s Cancer Center or The Clinton Foundation. Both charities do extremely important, lifesaving work that John deeply believed in. |
