About Burton Dean Ginsburg
July 22, 2021
Carmichael, California - Born March 11, 1963 in Sacramento, Calif. Died July 22, 2021 following a valiant 3-year battle with pancreatic cancer in Carmichael, Calif. at the age of 58.
Working for the airline industry, Burt traveled the world befriending people, hiking, biking, and tasting everything from balut in the Philippines to shakshouka in Israel.
He was a humble and generous man who had a knack for recognizing and quietly responding to and fulfilling others' needs. He volunteered tirelessly to meet the needs of our community.
Burt lived life to the fullest, riding motorcycles of all kinds, piloting various airplanes throughout the U.S., surfing, skiing and kayaking. He had eclectic taste in music and loved all genres. He took great pleasure and interest in fine foods from around the world, perfectly ripe peaches, a fine glass of Scotch, and had a great appreciation for scoops of Vic's or Gunther's ice cream, as well as a finely aged steak barbecued to perfection.
A lifetime lover of animals, Burt readily earned the title of "The Dog Spoiler." All family dogs knew to sit close to Burt during meals and were guaranteed a chunk of tri-tip or a long strand of Spaghetti Bolognese.
He passionately loved his family and friends and was adored in return. He especially loved his wife Elise, whom he finally married after dating her for many years.
Predeceased by his loving parents, Reuvin and Estelle Ginsburg, and brother Bruce Jay Ginsburg.
Survived by his loving wife Elise, his stepchildren Katherine and Ethan, his wonderful mother-in-law Maxine Boshes, brother-in-law Benjamin Boshes, his devoted sister Carrie Ginsburg Haffner (Craig) of Santa Barbara, sister Dana Ginsburg of Los Angeles, and niece Stella Haffner of St. Andrews, Scotland.
His sense of humor, quick wit and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him throughout the world. Most would agree that their best times ever were spent with Burt. A ride with him in a car, airplane or on a motorcycle was often described as "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!"
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan) or Sacramento SPCA.
The measure of a man's life is the well spending of it, and not the length –Plutarch
