| About | Mrs. Besana was a lifetime resident, educator and community leader in Placer County. Born Sylvia Marie Bastler on Aug.21 1927. She was an amazing rolemodel even as a small child organizing trips to the library and forming neighborhood baseball teams. She was an RHS Graduate from the Class of 1945. Taught in Auburn for 25 yrs ('49-'65), then another 22 yrs at Roseville ('65-88). Married to Fred C. Besana for 55 years. Her retirement in 1988 didn't stop her, it just allowed more time for volunteering and fundraising. The City of Roseville dedicated the Sylvia Marie Besana Park in her honor in 2005. Diagnosed with Cancer in June 2008 it quickly overpowered this brillant woman just one month laster. She was 80 years old. Survived by: husband Fred C, son Fred J., sister Catherine Lucich, and grandson Adam. She will be greatly missed. |
