John Thomas Phelan passed away on March 8, 2014 from a massive heart attack at age 44 years old. John was an incredible son, husband, father, brother, uncle and much more. John was born in Fresno, CA and loved the Mountains. He started Auberry Elementary in the fall of 1978 and continued through to graduate from Sierra High in 1987. John after graduating high school left his beloved Auberry and headed for the United States Navy where he traveled for a bit before coming back home where he and Natalie became friends and later married in December 1989. He had a passion for books and music and loved to be indoors playing online games whenever possible. He loved Jesus and teaching His word. John and Natalie loved camping and outdoor activities with their 3 sons. Especially the fun times they had at the dinner table at the end of the day. John loved his job as a bus driver/custodian at Sierra High School where he was able to show his unconditional love to everyone who came in contact with him. He loved to brighten someone’s day by telling a corny joke or just smiling at them when they needed lifting up. John is survived by his parents, Richard and Mercy of Auberry, CA. His wife Natalie and their children Joshua, David and wife Ashley, and Joseph of Auberry, CA. His In-laws, Johnny and Virginia Messer of Clovis, CA. and his sister-in-law Vikki Cisneros and her daughter Devin of Clovis, CA. As well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. We were humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and encouraging words that we have received in the past couple of weeks.
