About | John Stinger III Obituary John "Red" Harvey Stinger III, 73, Bolivar passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022, surrounded by love. John was born on May 31, 1948, in Soquel, California, to John and Ruth Daniels Stinger. He grew up in Santa Cruz, California, learning to surf and riding the rides at The Boardwalk. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and worked on the Bell UH-1 Iroquois "Huey" helicopter. On April 10, 1971, John married Cheri Templeman in La Verne, California. John worked in route sales in the uniform rental industry. He was an avid marksman and loved fishing with his son John. He enjoyed being outside, taking his kids on hikes, exploring new areas, and riding his motorcycle - especially with his sister, Pat. John also liked to build furniture and birdhouses for his family. John enjoyed traveling with the love of his life, his wife Cheri. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Payton, Gavin and Fiona. Living his life like a big kid, he was a really fun dad and grandpa. John didn't know a stranger. He would strike up a friendly conversation with people he met and loved to share stories. He loved to make people laugh and wasn't afraid to laugh at his own expense. He taught us to live life, enjoy the moment and take nothing for granted. He reminded us of the true importance of family, loving one another and making the most of every moment. We will greatly miss his laughter, sense of adventure and love of life. John is survived by his wife, Cheri, Bolivar; sister, Pat Stinger, Santa Cruz, California; daughter, Trish (David) Cross, Gladstone; grandchildren, Gavin and Fiona Cross; son John, Bolivar; grandson Payton. There will be a private celebration of life this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
