About | DONALD ARTHUR TRAPNELL - Nov. 24, 1949 - July 22, 2023 Copalis Crossing, Washington Donald Arthur Trapnell, son of Donald and Idamarie Trapnell, and brother to Craig Trapnell was born at Port Hueneme Naval base in California, a state that he called home for much of his life until he and his wife moved to Washington State in 2002. Don developed a love of playing the trumpet at a young age while listening to his father play. His love of music followed him from his highschool band to his joining the Airforce band as a young adult and traveling the world doing what he loved; making music. He had fascinating stories of his travels and took some impressive photographs. After leaving the airforce he attended De Anza College and then San Jose State, where he received his bachelor's degree in music. His love of music found him playing on tour as part of a band. In 1977 Don started working for Intel as a security guard. A manager took interest in Don, noticing he had been teaching himself computer programming, an interest he developed as a teenager working for Plantronics and Atari. Over his 30 years at Intel he advanced from security guard to acting as liaison for Intel to Microsoft when he retired in 2007. Don had a strong personal faith in his God, Jehovah and donated much of his time in retirement helping others in the community. He enjoyed gardening and loved to watch over his plants, and felt like he could “see them growing”. He adored his family and had many friends who were like family to him. He had a spontaneous sense of humor and was never short of any dad jokes. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Cheri; children Carla, Jennifer, Donny, Chris and Carrie; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his brother, Craig. |
