About | Charlie Osgood, Alameda High School Class of 1998, was stationed in Yuma, AZ as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. During a routing training exercise, Sgt. Osgood was killed in the crash of a search-and-rescue helicopter near the Colorado River. The Huey rescue aircraft was flying alone on a routine training mission near the Army’s Yuma Proving Ground, a military reservation along the Arizona-California border. After graduating from high school, Sgt. Osgood attended Colorado Aero Tech, where he studied airplane mechanics. He then moved to Phoenix and worked as a mechanic at a flight school before enlisting in the Marines. He left behind an 11-month old son and a wife who was expecting twins. |
