About | Longtime Denverite and advocate for children who are adopted, Sharon F. Kahn-Miller passed away on December 4, 2022. She was 55. A burial service was held at Mount Nebo Memorial Park, officiated by Rabbi Rick Brody, chaplain with Jewish Family Services. Shalom Funeral Service made the arrangements. Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Sharon traveled far and wide with family on vacation trips as a child and this became the norm with her husband and children. Following her parents’ divorce when Sharon was 8, she and her mother, Frances Kahn-Filreis, moved to Denver where Sharon grew up. They were members of BMH-BJ Synagogue. Sharon graduated from high school in three years in 1985. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and studied Psychology and graduated in 1988. Sharon was a school psychologist, starting her career in Colorado Springs as an intern in El Paso County and then returning to Denver. She taught at Temple Shalom in Colorado Springs and continued to do so in Denver at Temple Sinai and then was director of the religious school at Congregation B’nai Chaim. She also worked in public schools at this time in Jefferson County. In 1995 Sharon met her future husband, Bruce Miller, and they were married in Denver in 1997. Together, they adopted three children: Seth, Havah, and Rafi. Sharon traveled to Israel as a Jewish educator and most recently to France and England with Havah. Her family remember her most for her ability to tell stories and make everyone laugh. Survivors include: Sharon’s husband, Bruce D. Miller; children Seth Miller, Havah Miller, and Rafi Miller. Sharon’s parents, Henry Kahn and Sharon Kahn-Miller preceded her in death. Contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, lls.org. |
