Date of Birth Mar 01, 1952
Date of Passing Jun 13, 2024
About Salem - Stephen "Steve" Thomas Fallon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away June 13, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born March 1, 1952, in Schenectady, N.Y. He was the fourth of nine children. He grew up in Schenectady, and East Lyme. Before starting their family, Stephen built their family home in Salem, where he resided with his high school sweetheart, Jill Fallon until he passed. Steve was an accomplished guitarist, talented craftsman and athlete. He was a lifelong learner who loved engaging in conversations on various topics. His sense of humor and generosity touched many.

Steve attended East Lyme High School, graduating in the Class of 1970, and went on to earn a business degree from Providence College in 1975. Steve worked a multitude of jobs growing up from being a line cook to a caddy to driving a forklift at Electric Boat to smelting gold, even teaching at a private school. He found his calling as a general contractor building houses in his 20s, and further honing his craftsman skills as he went. He had an incredible ability to fix anything earning him the title of a true "jack-of-all-trades." An avid environmentalist, Steve was passionate about preserving the world around him and as a Selectman obtained a license to operate the landfill and helped convert Salem's dump into today's transfer station. He was always writing to his representatives about the waterways and other issues that he felt strongly about. Steve was passionate about helping his community.

Above all, Steve cherished his family. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his wife, Jill, and their children, Melissa and Matthew, and his daughter-in-law Sierra. His grandchildren, Riley, Maddie, Emma, Gage and Kai, were the light of his life. He loved them unconditionally and treasured every moment spent with them. He always showed up when needed for his family and friends.

Steve touched the lives of those around him. He was a talented cook as well. Steve was a loyal supporter of the Buffalo Bills and any team his daughter or son played on. He enjoyed coaching football and baseball, sharing his love for the game with others. Steve's favorite place in the world was sailing on a sailboat in the British Virgin Islands, but wherever his family was, he felt at home and was happy to be. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, humor and music.

Stephen was the son of John T. Fallon Jr. and Louise Ann Morris; and a beloved brother to Dr. John (Missy), Michael (Frannie), Dennis (Marylynn), Frank (MaryAnn), AnneMarie (Fred) Kracke, Katherine, and Patricia. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Fallon.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 1, in Saunders Point, Niantic. Parking will be in the Glendening field and directions provided from there. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in honor of Steve's spirited belief in great medical care for children. Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His patience, kindness, generosity and musical spirit will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace.
