About | Adam Q. Rowland, 24, of Shennecossett Road, Groton passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, Jan. 28, 2010, at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous five year fight with melanoma. He was born in New London on May 6, 1985, to Linda Spinnato-Tipton of Groton. Adam went to Groton schools graduating from Robert E. Fitch High School in 2003. He was employed by Race Rock Landscaping on Fisher Island, N.Y. and truly enjoyed his work as well as the company of his fellow co-workers. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and frequently joined his friends in a night of poker. Adam loved life, meeting new people and spending time with his family and friends. In the last two years, Adam had gotten to see his three favorite teams, the Celtics, Steelers, and the Yankees win world championships. In addition to his mother Linda, he is survived by a sister, Jessica Dugas and her husband, Philip Dugas, of Opelika, Ala.; his maternal grandmother, Marjorie Spinnato of Groton, paternal grandmother, Ann Rowland of Westerly, and paternal grandfather, Alfred Rowland of Baltimore, Md.; nieces and nephews, Clay, Sky, and Nina Herrington and Marjean Dugas; many uncles, aunts and cousins; his fiancee, Cheryl Ebbinghaus and her family of Groton; his father, Alfred Rowland III and two half brothers, Matthew and Kevin Rowland, all of Canterbury. He was recently predeceased by his grandfather, Anthony Spinnato. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. |
