Linda (Brown) Harris, 64, of Manchester, loving wife of over 45 years to James W. Harris, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, November 24, 2014. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late George and Alice (Mason) Brown, she grew up and lived in New Britain before moving to Manchester over 37 years ago. She was a graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1968. Prior to her retirement, Linda was employed by the former Filenes in Manchester as a purchasing agent for many years. She was a communicant of St. Bridget Church in Manchester. Linda loved to travel with her husband, especially trips to Ogunquit, Maine, cooking for big family gatherings, tending to the flowers in her garden, and being with her grandchildren. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be long remembered for her generosity, kindness, and the welcoming mom to all that knew her. In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by her beloved children, James Harris III of Manchester, Kathleen DiBastiani and her husband Steven of Attleboro, MA, Amy Pitkin and her husband Michael of Vernon, and Kim Chapman and her fiancé Thomas Marchand of Hebron; 12 grandchildren; a great grandchild, and Linda was looking forward to the birth of her second great grandchild very soon; a sister, Patricia Munson; three brothers, William Brown and his wife Carol, Francis Brown, and Herbert Brown and his wife Robertine, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was also predeceased by her brother, George Brown. |
