Eugene Earl Nettles, 65, of New Britain, loving husband of Janet (Sullivan) Nettles, died unexpectedly early Friday morning (January 17, 2014). Born in New Britain, son of the late Everett Earl Nettles and the late Cecile A. (Despault) Nettles, he graduated from New Britain High School in 1968, served in the US Army, and was most recently employed at Guardsmark in Hartford. He was a member of The Quartet Club, and Meriden Striper Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters-in-law, Diane Gil and Jose of New Britain, and Karen Sullivan in New Mexico, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A memorial service with military honors was held Friday (January 24, 2014) at 1pm directly at the Chapel at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 662 Burritt Street, New Britain, The Rev. Ronald T. Smith officiating. There were no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations were made to V.F.W. Post #511, 41 Veterans Drive, New Britain, CT 06051, or to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111. |
