About Kevin John Pentalow, 63, of Phenon, Calif., formerly of Burbank, Calif., and New Britain, Conn., passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at the gym, while enjoying the sport he loved since childhood -- boxing.
He was born in New Britain, Conn., on March 11, 1950, the son of the late John and Mary (Kusnierczyk) Pentalow. He graduated from New Britain High in 1968. He went on to join the Army, where he served his country in the Vietnam War, receiving numerous metals, one of which was the Bronze Star. He graduated top of his class from Central Connecticut State University in 1975 with a business degree.
Kevin worked for many years as a character actor in television and movies in titles such as "Don King: Only in America" (1997) and "Cold Case" (2003). He recently retired from the Screen Actors Guild, where he sometimes went by the screen name of K.J. Penthouse. He was a former professional heavyweight boxer with a 12 win (KO 7), 2 loss (KO 2) and 1 draw record. Kevin enjoyed working out, listening to late-night radio and walking his dogs. He was also an active member of the VFW.
He is survived by one son, Kevin John Pentalow Jr. and his wife, Rebecca Pentalow, of Brushton; one daughter, Mary Elisabeth Pentalow of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Marguerite Burnette of Plainville, Conn.; two brothers, John Pentalow of Berlin, Conn., and Timothy Pentalow of Newington, Conn.; and two grandchildren, Leonardo Pentalow and Amelia Pentalow, both of Brushton.
