John Borovicka, 58, of Vernon, beloved husband of 36 years to Linda (English) Borovicka, died suddenly on Friday, November 13, 2009. Born in Stafford, son of Henry and Elizabeth (Lyons) Borovicka of Willington, he grew up and lived in Willington before moving to Vernon 36 years ago. He was a graduate of Windham High School, Class of 1969 and earned his Associate in Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Hartford State Technical College, Class of 1972. John was employed by O & G Industries in Torrington as a carpenter foreman for several years. Prior to that, he worked for other heavy construction companies for his entire career except for several years when he owned his own home-remodeling business. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend who was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a kind, generous person who would help everyone. His family was the love of his life, and he enjoyed helping his daughter and son-in-law remodel their condo and was looking forward to building their new home. He was an outstanding carpenter who was always making his own home more beautiful. John was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Vernon. He was a member of the Manchester Gun Club, the Carpenters Union, Local #43 in Wethersfield, and he was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. He enjoyed all the pets that he had over the years, especially his Labrador retrievers. Besides his parents and his wife, John is survived by his beloved daughters, Bethany Chanthavisouk and her husband Sid of Ellington and Kimberly Borovicka of Vernon; two brothers, Michael Borovicka of PA and James Borovicka of Vernon; a sister, Debra Arnott and her husband John of Southington; his mother-in-law, Ann Celmer of New London; a Godson, Staff Sergeant Michael Bottari, USAF of FL; a Goddaughter, Jodi Kirk of Plantsville, two aunts, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. |
