| About | Matthew David Dill, Sr., 75, of Cranston, RI, passed away August 2, 2022 at home with his family. He was born in July 1947, to his parents, the late, Joyce Ilene Dill (née Steele) and the late Andrew Jackson Dill. Matt graduated from Milford High School in Milford, DE. He married his wife of 54 years, Lorraine Dill (née Quattrucci) at Our Lady of Loreto Church, East Providence in May 1968. Matt was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran serving with SeaBee battalion MCB-6 out of Davisville, RI. He served as a draftsman and courier in Chu Lai, Vietnam and and became a member of the South Pole Society, having been stationed at McMurdo in Antarctica to help draft plans for the U.S. South Pole Station. A lover of the open road, Matt was a Teamster and drove for UPS for 36 years. Friends on the CB radio knew him as “The Marshall.” His true passion was riding his Harley Davidson and showing his classic ’64 Oldsmobile. He was a collector of hobbies. Matt was among the earliest adopters of PCs and the internet. He was an avid reader of all genres from Louis L’Amour to Isaac Asimov; the movies were never as good as the books. Matt coached for the Cranston Little League in the 70s and 80s and was often remembered by the kids from his teams long after they had grown. He was playful and loved a good joke (or a bad one). He enjoyed play-fighting with his cat “buddy” Norris, and always cherished time laughing and playing on the floor with his grandchildren. Matt is also survived by his children, Matthew Dill, Christopher Dill and his wife Karen Maggiacomo Dill, Alissa McCann and her husband Todd McCann; his two grandchildren; and his sisters Andrea Morata, Rebecca Fogarty, and Nancy Dill. |
