David Lee Hogan Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1975
Date of Passing Sep 01, 2018
About born March 15, 1957, in Daytona Beach, Florida. David is predeceased by his father (Herschel). He is survived by his wife Lily Feliciano-Hogan of Boynton Beach, FL; children, Lee of Los Angeles, CA, Amber of Montgomery, AL, mother, Wathena of Deland, FL, two brothers, Bob (Debbie) of Deland, FL, and Ric (Nikki) of Daytona Beach, FL, and niece Taylor. David graduated Deland High School in 1975. He was an outstanding athlete there lettering in football, track, and wrestling. He earned a football scholarship to Troy University in Alabama. On October 21, 2016 he was inducted into the DHS Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in athletics. After graduating from Troy, David worked in the fitness business. In 1986, he founded Hogan's Gym in Montgomery, Al. He sold the gym years later but the name, gym, and legacy still remains. He moved back to Florida in 2011 and started Junk Boys a demolition and junk removal service in 2016 with his wife Lily. David loved being competitive and outdoors. His favorite hobby was cycling when not spending time on the beach with his wife. Even in his sixties, he would average cycling 200 miles a week. He loved mentoring or coaching young kids. He wanted young people to know that you have to work hard for all things in life and to never give up when obstacles come your way. He was constantly looking out for those less fortunate, offering them jobs, motivation, or just some beloved humor. He never met a stranger and always brought a smile to your face. All who knew him would agree that he loved his wife Lily, he was proud of his children Lee and Amber, and was the best son and brother he knew to be. Memorial celebration will be held at the home of Wathena Hogan (mother) in Deland, Florida on Saturday, September 8 at 10:00 am. Friends are welcome to join the family in celebrating the life of David Hogan.
