James Lee Stohrer passed away at his home December 28, 2025. He was born in Benton Harbor Michigan on April 12,1944. Known as Jim he was the youngest of three children born to Bill and Betty Stohrer. He moved with his family to Florida in 1956 and had been in Tallahassee since 1965. An army veteran, after leaving the service he attended Florida State University and had worked in the food and beverage industry most of his adult life. He worked in his dad's sandwich shop in Ft. Lauderdale in high school and served as the Food and Beverage Director for all three Ramada Inns in Tallahassee. He loved to golf and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his wife Jo Messer, his daughter, Hollie Garcia and grandkids Hunter, Haylie and Harper, brother Jack Stohrer and niece Laurel Medley in Dunnellon Florida, sister Susan Pendergrass, brother-in-law Travis and nieces Beth and Melissa Monterrosa in Eugene Oregon. He served in the Army as paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He will be interned at the Tallahassee Veterans Cemetery on January 26, 2026 at 1 pm. |
