About | In loving memory of a dear friend. May she rest in peace in God's loving arms, and forever in our hearts. Marea Lyman Thomas, born on May 16, 1959 in Paris and raised in Chicago and Atlanta, died at her home in Sarasota on Friday, April 13th. She was the beloved wife of B. J. Thomas; loving daughter of Mollie Michala Lyman and the late Thomas Lyman; devoted sister to Francesca, Mela, Stephany, Michael, and Sophia; generous aunt to Devin, Nicolas, Alexander, Gabriele, Margo, Oliver, and Saskia; and unwavering friend. A student at Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Marea was an artist, a lover of music, dance, and poetry, and an athlete. Her paintings, pastels, sketches and collages reflect her love of nature and the human form, and her expansive reservoir of creative impressions. We will miss her exuberance and wit, beauty and sensitivity, and profoundly generous spirit, which will always inspire us. A memorial was held at the First Existentialist Congregation at 470 Candler Park Dr., NE Atlanta, on Friday, June 8th, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marea's name by visiting the following link: http://www.marwen.org/get-involved/give-at-marwen/ |
