Events | Lois Syndey Smith, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024, in Athens, Georgia. She was born on August 6th, 1955, grew up in Tucker, Georgia, and was a resident of Lilburn for many years. Sydney was a devout Christian and long time member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a woman of great compassion and kindness, touching the lives of all who knew her. She had the kindest heart, bringing smiles and joy to all those fortunate enough to know her. She loved talking and spending time with her husband, to whom she was happily married for 51 years. One of her favorite places was Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, where she spent countless hours with her feet in the water watching the birds and ocean waves. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren who they lovingly called Nana Syd. She loved her work family at Chris Strickland DMD where she spent many years as an office manager. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, as well as her beloved dog Grayson. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Smith; son, Dr. Jeffrey Smith Jr. (daughter-in-law Mary Smith); daughter, Tiffany Armour (son-in-law Alan Armour); grandsons, Davis and Alan Armour; grandson, Franklin Smith; granddaughter, Caroline Smith; sister, Joann Landers; mother-in-law, Jessie Smith; and brothers-in-law, Keith and Greg Smith.Sydney was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy; father, Charles McElroy; and brother, David McElroy. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Lois Sydney Smith will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA. There will be a private interment for Lois Sydney Smith. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 20, 2024 prior to the service from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in memory of Sydney Smith may be made to Village Baptist Church, www.villagebaptist.org/give. In the memo line, please enter "Memorial- Sydney Smith".
