About | Scott M. Garner, 34, died Aug. 25, 2005, as he was doing what was his greatest daily joy, heading home to spend the evening with his loving family. The unsuspecting victim of a tragic accident, he was instead returned safely home to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father. Scott was born Sept. 10, 1970, in Rexburg, Idaho, to William Garner and Carolyn Muir Garner, the youngest of eight children. He grew up in Idaho Falls, and attended Bonneville High School. He served an LDS mission to Macon, Georgia, and proceeded to Utah State University, and to Ricks College, where he received his nursing degree. On March 27, 1992, he married his high school sweetheart, Kristy Linn Jolley, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked as a CNA, Valley Health Care, EIRMC, and Hospice of Eastern Idaho. At the time of his death, he was working at Aspen Hospice, where Scott was and still is loved by all those he has cared for, and all he has helped are eternally grateful. Scott enjoyed living life in the company of his family, friends, and extended families. He loved being outdoors, and could often be found camping, riding four wheelers, or just playing ball with his boys. He loved playing, coaching and watching sports of all kinds, especially football (Vikings) and basketball. His love of a good sports game was exceeded only by his ever multiplying collection of basketball shoes. His fun loving personality and easy going ways were enjoyed by all who knew him. Scott always had a big smile on his face, which matched his big heart. For all his earthly accomplishments and talents, Scott will always be remembered most as the loving father, husband, brother, and son that he was, and always will be. It was his nature to listen, to love, and to encourage those he knew as family and friends. Knowing that his exceptional love and his life extend beyond the grave, it will be those things that are held dear in this life. His family will always smile and remember how his greatest satisfaction and joy came from being a husband and father, and how he lived it daily in the littlest of things. Above all, Scott loved his wife with an unshakable love and his family was always his first priority. His favorite morning ritual was snuggling with Riley, while watching cartoons, or play station. He was always there to teach Jordan new skills, and would spend time teaching Jayce new things. He would always bring Allissa home a new Barbie to add to her collection. He loved date nights with his wife, no matter what they were doing. Scott has touched so many people's lives, and we have been truly blessed to have had him in our lives. Scott, you will be missed by all, and we look forward to the day family and friends will be united again, never again to depart.
