Lyle died from gunshot wounds in Vietnam. I was home for spring break in 1968 and visited the park one day and ran into Lyle, who was on leave. He had re-upped and was going back to Vietnam the next day. He arrived in Vietnam, went into a combat area and was killed by a sniper. Lyle was a weapons repairman. His folks built Steve's In and Out on Kimberly Road. The date of his death is close but may differ from my estimate. There is a memorial in the park that has his exact date of death. Its on the south side and a little east of the Kimberly Christian Church. |
